Thank you so much for your patience and great teaching abilities. I really had a great time learning from you. I learned so much!! Each day was a new topic, but I understood each new topic as we went along so it was very fulfilling for me. My head was full! I was not sure what to expect when I started out on my journey, but it was much more than I had hoped for. The one on one lessons are irreplaceable with other forms of learning. It was a great way to reacquaint myself with French and move quickly forward to the next level. I only wish I could have stayed longer. Being able to practice my French with you on a day to day basis outside of formal lesson time was a great gift because you were so patient with me.
I am missing your wonderful cooking. I did make a Salad Nicoise on the weekend - but it is just not the same. Meal times were always fun with a variety of people to talk to and practice with. It was really wonderful staying in your very lovely home. An extra bonus I had not considered before going is how close your home is to all the attractions in Nice. I walked everywhere and it made the vacation all the more enjoyable. This was a great vacation for me.

The summer of 2008 was truly unforgettable for my brother and I. We arrived in Nice from Canada at the beginning of August, having great hopes of learning the French language with Geneviève. However, at that time, we had no idea where our stay in France would lead us.
Every morning, we began with our French language courses with Geneviève. It was 4 hours a day of grammar, vocabulary, culture, and both written and oral exercises. How horrible! Right? On the contrary, these four hours were always very enjoyable. Using songs, role plays, and magazine and newspaper articles, Geneviève insured that the courses were always interesting. More importantly, we laughed a lot.
In the afternoons, we were either on the famous beaches of Nice or with Geneviéve, travelling to see one of the hundreds of tourist sites in the area. Dinner was always back at Genevièves house and her cooking was so tasty and delicious! Even today, I miss her cooking. During the night, we went out to Old Nice. Nights in Nice are full of life and people. Nice is truly a city that never sleeps.
All of that is to say that our time in Nice was incredible. I have no doubt that we will return one day to this city that we fell in love with. Thank you Geneviève. |

I was a little bit nervous at moving from Canada to Nice, France for a year, but Genevieve went over and above to make me feel comfortable, and went to enormous lengths to help my husband and I get settled into Nice.
The captivating views, gorgeous climate, and rich history, made each day in Nice an adventure, with countless things to see and to experience.
When I first arrived, I had the opportunity to stay with Genevieve for 4 weeks, and to also learn french from her during that time. Genevieve is an incredible teacher, who has the ability to encourage, but to also challenge you forward in the goal of learning french. She made me feel right at home, and I always looked forward to meal times which were rich in flavour and variety.
Genevieve has been instrumental in making my time in France an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. |

I have just returned from the most marvelous vacation/learning experience where, along with three of my friends, all of us women of a certain age’ to one extent or another, I spent two weeks being immersed in everything French chez Genevieve. We are not your typical French language students in that we don’t need it for work or to achieve a diploma. Rather, we love France, French cuisine, French customs, the French language…you get the idea. At home, we have weekly get-togethers to try to improve our speaking and comprehension skills, but we don’t have the opportunity to speak French with anyone who really speaks it well. Moreover, since we wanted to make a quantum leap and also have an excuse for a trip to France, all four of us descended on Genevieve and said, ‘make us better’. And she certainly did! We studied grammer, we read and discussed current magazine articles, we learned that to “etre cloue au lit” doesn’t mean to be nailed to the bed but rather to be ill. We watched the historic debate between Sago and Sako before the presidential elections, which was very exciting. We had classes in the mornings, hit the museums or flea markets in the afternoons and ate Genevieve’s magnificient meals in the evenings.
The conversation around the dinner table was, to me, almost as helpful as the morning classes. Genevieve corrected us when our grammer went totally off track, but for the most part, we talked, we sang, we laughed…we communicated in French! On the weekend, accompanied by Genevieve and her friend Pierre (who is as patient as a saint and a wonderful chef himself) we went to Entrevaux, a charming medieval town in the back country. To study French in an atmosphere such as this is as good as it gets.
Genevieve’s apartment is spacious, lovely and welcoming, situated in the center of Nice and convenient to everything. And Genevieve herself is a truly gifted teacher -- patient, adept at communicating, and possessing a splendidly wicked sense of humor. I consider her a friend and fully intend to return next year for another two weeks (or more) ‘pour parler francais.’
One doesn’t have to be young, a student, or speak fluent French to take advantage of a French immersion course with the wonderful Genevieve. One only has to love France. |

I am a retired science teacher learning French for interest with my wife, also a retired teacher and a natural linguist. I, to put it mildly, am not! We are taking the english examination 'AS French' this year.
I spent a week with Geneviéve this spring to improve my oral and listening ability (it is impossible to get enough speaking practice in 2 hour weekly evening classes), and to go through some of the more difficult parts of French grammar.
The teaching was excellent, with well structured lessons supported by clear and informative (and at times fun) teaching material. Most importantly, Geneviéve was very patient with this linguistically struggling scientist and appeared not to mind correcting the same mistake many times.
I was a little concerned before arriving at having both one-to-one lessons and full board with Geneviéve. Would we have too much time face-to-face? This turned out not to be a problem as her apartment has space for 6 guests and, with the other students plus her friends and family dropping in, we had very varied and lively meal times. The food (and wine) was good. I liked the accommodation. My room was light, airy and comfortable, and there are ample showers etc.
Nice is justifiably famous and does not need me to extol its delights. Just let me say I enjoyed the two excursions with Geneviéve and the three afternoons by myself visiting the delightful parks and gardens of this beautiful city.
The 'package' provided by Genviéve is best summarized by the fact that I want to come again next year, this time with my wife, as we are planning to take 'A2 French' - and we are paying for everything ourselves! |

I had an excellent and happy experience learning French and staying with Genevieve in her spacious and comfortable apartment in Nice. I was made to feel most welcome and I was beautifully looked after. It was like staying with a friend who just happened to teach me French! For 3 hours every week day morning I would have one to one French lessons with Genevieve. My knowledge of the French language was very limited and Genevieve made sure that I learnt as many verbs as I could and was very thorough explaining the grammar, which for me was quite complicated, but the basics have to be right to make progress. Genevieve made the lessons extremely interesting and the 3 hours went very quickly. I felt I had not made much progress as there is a lot to learn, but by the time I returned home after one month I soon realised that I knew more than I originally thought.
I loved being in Nice and enjoyed everything that the cosmopolitan city had to offer from art galleries and museums to visiting ‘The Old Town’ and joining the nearby gym. Genevieve’s apartment is very well situated and within easy walking distance of the beach, the shops, restaurants, cinemas, some museums and galleries. Genevieve took me to many interesting places in and around Nice at the week end, which I enjoyed very much. I had my own personal tour guide!
Sometimes I helped with preparing and cooking the evening meal. I did not have to do this, it was my choice but it was good to be involved because at the same time it helped me to learn more of the French language. The evening meal was shared with many poeple. Every night was fun and we had to try to speak French all the time, it was like living with one big happy family! My month went by far too quickly but it was a great experience and a wonderful opportunity to learn French and to live the French city way of life. I would recommend it to anyone wanting the same! |

I studied French for 2 weeks with Geneviève and she really made me feel like home from the very beginning. During the lessons we concentrated on the themes and grammatical issues that were difficult to me. She planned each lesson based on my skills and my level of French, which is a great advantage of an individual course.
Every morning I woke up before 7AM to go for a refreshing swim in the Mediterranean with Geneviève. In the evenings, we made some excursions together in the surroundings of Nice. I went for long walks to admire the sights of Nice. Sometimes I took part in guided walking tours of the city, which was an excellent way to learn more about the history of Nice and also to get more used to oral French. Also the surroundings of Nice offer a great number of beautiful sights, like St Tropez, Cannes, Antibes, Juan-Les-Pins, Monaco, so I had something to do and see all the time.
I need French at my current work with clients from Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria, so my employer suggested me a language course in order to improve my French skills. During the 2 weeks with Geneviève I learnt lots of new expressions and my active vocabulary expanded. I’m also now more confident with the grammar and much more fluent in communicating with my clients. But the two weeks passed by really quickly and I would have wanted to stay with Geneviève at least for another 2 weeks. On my last day I was really feeling down – my stay with Geneviève was an experience that I will never forget! |

I spent 7 weeks living and studying with Geneviève, during which time we developed a wonderful friendship. She combines her natural talent for teaching French with kindness and an unlimited fountain of patience for her students.
My stay included 3 hours of French lessons each week day. Geneviève devised a programme in accordance with my level of French and goals, and continually monitored my progress so as to ensure each lesson was relevant and challenging. For example, when my reading skills became sufficiently strong to tackle more complicated literature, we began reading Le Monde together. This was useful and enjoyable and really helped me to understand the nuances that can otherwise escape a non-native speaker.
I also have to say something of Geneviève’s skills as a hostess. From the moment that I arrived I felt as if I really was at home. Her daughter, the adorable Maud, was always ready to help me out when necessary, my bedroom was lovely and even the cat made me feel welcome! Our meals together were also memorable. Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but each meal was time of conversation, laughter and general animation.
So suffice to say my stay with Geneviève was unforgettable. My French has improved enormously thanks to her excellent tuition and the homestay environment, but most importantly I have made some wonderful friendships for life. |

At the beginning, it was my French literature that fascinated and inspired me so much to learn this beautiful language. I did my "studies" by myself because I lacked time to take classes. After some years I noticed that I could read well enough but I couldn't speak. One thing could help me: to spend some weeks in France living with a French family. I succeeded at finding an excellent teacher in Nice, who also had a very relaxed, comfortable apartment in the center of the city. The every day presence of a teacher who corrected my mistakes continually throughout the day, not only in class, was priceless. The warm personality of the teacher only added to the experience. |

I was blessed with an unforgettable experience because Genevieve and her daughter, Maud, did everything for me to put me at ease. I never had the impression of being a foreigner or a tourist; instead, I was their friend. I even made the acquaitance of many of their friends and family members who were very hospitable. Since I study French and English at the University of Graz, I wanted to familiarize myself with the French way of life at the beginning of my studies. I improved my knowledge of French while having fun and without having the impression of working. Genenvieve speaks French without the Mediterranean accent. This is how I was able to learn the French taught at the university. Not only did I learn things that helped me pass my classes at the university, but I also benefitted personally. I saw many things that were typical of the region around Nice that tourists lodged in a hotel would never see.
In addition, I must mention that the "Genevieve Cuisine" is delicious. We even had dinner together, which was something that I really enjoyed. I still remain in contact with Genevieve via the internet. When I need information in French she is ready to help me. Since I was so happy at Genevieve's apartment, it is not surprising that I have returned twice and will undoubtedly again! |

I annoyed Geneviève for three weeks , then again for another two while I learnt with her. I had an unforgettable time with her ( after which, Geneviève had to take a year's holiday). I had originally planned to come for just three weeks , but upon discovering these being a big chess tournament I stayed for another two, through not wih Geneviève.
For the first three weeks , I had two hours of the courses each daytexts, vocab, grammar. I think I perfect my French ! When Geneviève speaks French , you understand every word. My grand mother who didn't know a word of French , began to understand her ( sometimes with gestures) Thanks to wonderful excursions, I now know Nice and the little villages a bit . I met many French people and I have even got a friend of my own age . Geneviève did every thing to put me at ease. I accompanied her going shopping, doing the cooking etc… Geneviève cooking was another story: If you don't stay with her and she doesn't need anymore holidays, she could easily became a chief in a restaurant.
I became a bit fat as I couldn't stop eating what she gave me. And now , I am writing this report before the last dinner together. It ‘s a pity because tomorrow I take the plane to St Petersboug. I certainly hope to return to Nice to Geneviève. |

I had a wonderful time at Geneviève's, and she is very welcoming. She does all she can to put you at your ease, and you really feel part of the family. We had wonderful meals together and also went on excursions. She helped me prepare for my oral exam at university, and thanks to her I feel well prepared. |
